Busy Week

This last week has been a crazy, busy week for us all.
Ryann participated in a school musical.  They only had 8 practices after school and were able to put together a quality play.  The play was "Pirates the Musical" and her character was Purple Beard, which was a role she shared with another cast member.  All the kids/pirates were great!
Travis has been attending Warrior Leader Course (WLC) the last three weeks and graduated this last Wednesday.  He also made the Commandant's List.  I am so proud of him!
The girls have finished up their swimming lessons this week.  They both made it to Level 4, which is the highest level before making the Swim Team.  I think that if we were going to be here another month, they would have graduated to Swim Team.  They have worked hard and have come such a long way.  They even jump off the high platform without hesitation!  Their instructors were sad that they would no longer be in swimming and had nothing but kind words for both Ryann and Sami.
This week I chaperoned the third and first grade field trips.  Ryann's class went to the Point Defiance Zoo and to Owen's Beach.  It was a gorgeous day and I think all the kids had a blast. Sami's class went to the Nisqually Wildlife Refuge today.  Unfortunately, the weather was not as cooperative as it had been yesterday, but the kids didn't seem to mind.
Monday will be the last day of school.  Even though Monday is only a half day, both want to go to school to see the last of their friends and to help tear down their teacher's room.  The girls each had AMAZING teachers and had a great school year.  I think Hillside Elementary will be missed.
And on that note...Can you believe that we should be driving off post in only 7 days??

A New Chapter

Travis got selected to Warrant Officer Candidate School and Flight School!  I am so proud of him!  While we are sad to be leaving our Ranger Family, this will be a new chapter in our lives, and a great opportunity for Travis.  It also means a PCS to Fort Rucker, Alabama. We have been fortunate to be stationed close to family the last 3+ years and were able to go home a couple of times a year.
Since we will now be 2,240 miles away from our loved ones, I have decided I will try to keep a blog for our family and friends (although I have no idea what I am doing!).  Now those that do not have Facebook (Dad) and those that do, but never get on it (Mom) can follow our new adventures.  I know it is not the same as being able to spend time together, but I am hoping this will be an acceptable substitute, at least until we are stationed closer (fingers crossed).
This cross country move is fast approaching.  I have reserved the moving truck for our DITY move and the hotel reservations have also been made.  Now to begin the dreaded packing!
